J. Herman Whitson, until four years ago a resident of this city, today lies dead at his home in Indianapolis, the victim of a heart attack. Mr. Whitson who was only 26 years of age, was found dead Thursday by his wife when he failed to respond to her calls at their home in Indianapolis. His lifeless body was found in his bed and heart trouble was given as the cause of death. Mr. Whitson, very well known here, had been suffering from heart attacks for some time but his condition had never been regarded as serious and his sudden death comes as a great shock to his many friends here. The deceased was born at Russellville and came to this city when quite young. While here he was connected with the American Express Company leaving the city four years ago to accept a position with the same company in Indianapolis in the accounting bureau. Mr. Whitson was graduated from Crawfordsville HS with the class of 1918 and was honored by his classmates with the presidency of his class when he became a senior. Besides the widow and a three year old daughter, Katherine, one brother, Hubert Whitson of this city, survives. He was a grandson of Mrs. Nancy Gott of this city and Mrs. James Whitson of Chicago. Mr. WHitson was a member of the Methodist Church. The body will be brought to Crawfordsville Friday afternoon over the Big Four and will be taken to the home of his brother, Hubert Whitson, 1413 West Wabash Avenue where funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at one o'clock. Burial will be made in Russellville Cemetery.    --- typed by kbz
